If you owe an apartment money, or have an eviction, it is very likely that you will not be approved at a corporate-owned apartment complex.

You need to make things right with the check and the old apartment complex, then try to find a place to live.

A good rental history goes a long way with a prospective landlord so be sure to make any prospective landlords aware of your history with your most recent landlord. In addition you could offer a higher than normal security deposit to assure your prospective landlord that you aren’t a flight risk. Good Luck!

A broken lease remains on your credit history for seven years so it is entirely possible that a landlord will not be willing to rent to you.

Look for apts. not managed by a rental agency. Private land lords don’t charge application fees and other fees associated with rental agencies

I own apts. and I use a rental agency for some, and I handle the rent on others because of people like you. They can’t afford the fees associated with a rental agency, but other wise are good renters.

Check the condition of the apt. closely prior to moving in. If it is in good repair, then your chances of getting a good land lord improve greatly. If it should have been torn down years ago, keep on looking.

.P.S. There isn’t much a land lord can do about getting more police protection. We have no control over the polcie dept. They will come out if they choose, or not if they choose.

It will be OK as long as you have the money to pay. Just be honest and say that you were living next to drug dealers and break in were occuring and you were afraid for your family. Life happens, it’s OK stop worrying. Just be honest and it will all work out.
