It may be too late to sue for something that happened in 2005. It is certainly too late to start a dispute resolution process; you should have done that when the charges first showed up.
You’re not fooling anybody. You wife didn’t leave you just because of some mysterious charges; you had other issues before this.
No lawyer is going to even think about taking this no-chance case on contingency. His time is worth something and he will expect to be paid. I don’t know about where you are, but in Illinois, the statute of limitations on torts is two years.
I don’t know what the statute of limitation for this state, and the credit card company (state). You can check into this, this will determine how you can proceed.
1) Learn how to use the period button on your keyboard Wow, that was a long sentence! lol….
2) Do a search for attorneys that belong to NACA (do a Yahoo search).
And ignore Ted, who doesn’t know anything. There is a rapidly growing number of attorneys that are taking on consumer debt cases, and FDCA violations on a contingency basis. Why? Because the laws are very clearly worded, and if you follow a very specific procedure you will easily win. And that means the lawyer can make some real fast and easy bucks. Your case is not that clear cut, but if you win there is a very clear amount of damages that you will win.
