Why? You bought a house you can afford and financed it properly. Why would you need to make any changes.
If you have excellent credit, you can refinance on a 15-year for 4.25%, which is good if you are going to live in your home for more than three years. But, the government is not helping people as much as you think. Most people who get some relief end up defaulting anyway. Just keep paying and get that house paid off. That is the best way to get ahead of the game.
I know how you feel … having a paid for house, I got no help from the government. But, I am much more content and secure since I don’t need that mess of a bailout. I’ll trade that any day. It has value that is hard to measure.
As odd as it sounds, the programs to help are only for the dishonest people. Honest people, like you and me, are not eligible for any of the programs. Obamas goal is to use the money from hard working people to support those who choose a more lazy life style in order to eliminate the lower class, even though every one in America chooses their own income, their own credit rating and their own standard of living.
He is trying his best to turn us into a Socialist nation within his 4 years.
You are not alone, thousands of people see stupid people that made terrible decisions getting help when the people that did the right things the right way get nothing. That is how it is. The only thing you may be able to do is refinance at a lower rate, but every refi costs you money.
