   It may be that his company just lowered their rates though.

   I would find out what APR they can give you. If the rate is 5.5 and the APR is 6% then they are rolling a lot of fees and costs into that low rate they are offering, which you would end up paying for in the long run.

   If you have good credit and a stable income you could always hear what he has to say and then shop around to other companies.
