In the state I live in they have a few things you can do. The one that I filed for was a “Homestead Exemption”. The bad thing is that it will not take effect until the next year BUT when it does it saved me about $1500 on my property tax. You just go to the appraisals office to fill this out. I would check on those. Also if you have your taxes and insurance escrowed into your mortgage you should be aware that the bank / mortgage co. will take their sweet time readjusting your rate. About all I can help you with. Hope it helps.
You just get to watch, like the rest of us who thought we were being careful. BUT I guess we do have peace of mind.
