I’m sure that the economic mess would have been avoided if the top government officials could avoid it. Once the addiction to credit can’t be satisfied then the withdrawal pains start. Once you drink the Kool-Aid that all problems can be solved by less taxes and less government, and more religion, and more military actions then what’s there to think about?
Every President wants the economy to be in good shape before an election so than their party can win. This President is desperate for any short-term fix before the election.
The Iraq war is a huge mistake but the consequences have yet to hit the voters in the face. But the economy hits home for most Americans. The housing crisis will go on for years, taking Wall Street and the economy down with it. When will the “spin masters” of Washington, DC understand Iraq is a waste of money and lives? It needs to be ended so that we can pay attention to this country’s problems.
In conclusion, self-government doesn’t work when the people can’t see past the lies of the government.
