Clinton wanted poor people to have homes. The question is was it out of the goodness of his heart that he forced banks to give loans to poor people , or was it to help him get re-elected by stimulating the economy?
Deregulation led our economy to where it is now. Even the old school conservatives knew that was suicide. Look at Teddy Roosevelt- he intervened in the economy, breaking trusts (monopolies) because the market would not have been able to regulate that by itself.
OBVIOUSLY the “free” market needs to be regulated. Buying off the regulators wasn’t part of the plan, but it happened. The banking and investment institutions have driven us in to the Bush Depression and they are just begging for the beat down they now deserve.
We in the industry saw this coming six years ago. Everyone knew what was happening, even politicians.
They couldnt stop playing with banks in the eighties either. Remember the savings and loan crisis? That was a beauty of government regulation.
Ok, I will buy some swamp. I will sell it to you for ten bucks. You sell it to me for a million, right after I borrow a million dollars from your bank. Then I sell it to you for ten million, which you borrowed from me, and when you cant sell it on the open market we go bankrupt and the government bails us out. Awesome job, Democrats.
Well said! Unfortunately most people only get their info from left leaning, shallow soundbite news sources. We are a country where people get their “informed data” from the likes of John Stewart, The View, MTV, Saturday Night Live, Or random Headlines. Now I enjoy for entertainment the above mentioned, but they are NOT my go to sources for serious issues involving my country,
The government cannot control nature, the climate, or the free market. And lose every time they try.
However, they can create problems by trying to interfere. That in turn, allows them to convince gullible people, they need the government to fix the problems it creates, which is how the survives and grows.
Because the market owns the government

Clinton’s concession to greed, sad to say- hey, check this out.http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkmMKWH9JLtoAFjdXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzaW1qbmYwBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNQRjb2xvA3NrMQR2dGlkA0Y4MjRfMTI5/SIG=11ugtlqkr/EXP=1233168778/**http%3a//www.barefootsworld.net/usfraud.html It’s kind of wacky sounding but is actually written into our laws and no one even looks at it-LOL.

“in a world regulated by a gold standard, 100% reserve banking, and no FDIC deposit insurance”
That could possibly solve all of our financial problems.

Fractional reserve banking allows the fat cats to get rich via windfall.
