You will get to pay more soon….. when the previous Tax cuts are repealed……yep effects all…Yes we can!
The central provisions of these landmark tax bills are scheduled to expire . which means that taxes will rise dramatically for most taxpayers. Between now and January 1, 2011
Tax rates will rise substantially in each tax bracket, some by 450 basis points;
Low-income taxpayers will see the 10-percent tax bracket disappear, and they will have to pay taxes at the 15-percent rate;
Married taxpayers will see the marriage penalty return;
Taxpayers with children will lose 50 percent of their child tax credits;
Taxes on dividends will increase beginning on January 1, 2009;
Taxes on capital gains will increase, also beginning on January 1, 2009; and
Federal death taxes will come back to life in 2011, after fading down to nothing in 2010.
I think we all pay high enough taxes, especially considering Obongo the clown just spent 1 trillion dollars but still negligently failed to transfer any of those funds to the highway system and is letting it fall apart.
What? Was I supposed to scream NO JUSTICE NO PEACE something about class warfare?
The Super Rich usually avoid paying taxes through off-shore accounts and by hiring tax attorneys to find loopholes.
Most of the Super Rich’s income is not generated by salaries, unlike most Americans. Income is generated through capital gains and business investments. If these investments are not in American accounts or American companies, they do not have to be reported to the IRS.
The people that usually get screwed by higher taxes are the upper-middle and middle classes, who do not have the tax evasion capabilities of the Super Rich.
Plus, the Super Rich tend to vote Democrat in Federal elections. To them its all Bloods and Crips; they are above the system.
You are confusing yourself. The top 10% of tax payers pay 50% of all income taxes. The bottom 50% of tax payers pay about 3% of the federal income tax. Then there is a whole flock of people who earn money or get hand outs and pay no federal income tax. Source: IRS..
Explain, if only to yourself, how it is fair that so many people do not pay income tax. We all benefit from being citizens, so we all should pay something. Did you pay anything in taxes last year?
OK, Your first statement has nothing to do with taxes and your second is misleading because that population’s money is tied up in tax deferred investments.
But here is a nice fact for you. 48% of the American population doesn’t pay federal taxes at all! So it is pretty easy to see who isn’t pulling there weight. We are all equal, right? Certainly not in the IRS’s eyes.
Wow…ok…so aside from insulting people in a debate, you’re using figures you don’t even understand and in a context that makes no sense.
How do you figure the “average” person pays more in taxes (other than “because the article said so”)?
Aside from the obvious–income taxes–the rich pay far more in every other tax there is. Property taxes…a bigger house on more land creates a bigger property tax nut, and most of those people have more than one home, so here, they’re already paying more. Things like the capital gains tax. When was the last time you paid that? The “average” person will never face a capital gains tax. Even sales taxes are higher considering the purchasing power they have over you. Sure, the rate may be the same, but you’re going in for a t-shirt while they’re going in for $5,000 worth of accessories or whatever else.
I don’t know what your aversion to “rich” people is, especially since I’d bet every dime I have that you’d love to be rich yourself one day–who wouldn’t? So to sit here and childishly blast the wealthy because you’re not one of them is hypocritical at best, and self-defeating at worst, almost an admission to the fact that you yourself never believe you’ll make it to that level one day.
Grow up and get real. Try and study something one day instead of puppeting what you hear and read on the internet.
“yeah not you hicks at the Tea party’s wasting your time trying to save Fox news workers, which make loads of money, from paying there taxes you little poor conservative puppets”
Wow….
Anyway, do you realize what you just said? You said a lot of rich people pay less than a QUARTER of the money they make on just the income tax, like that was a bad thing.
And guess what? The lower brackets pay an even LOWER percentage! You have to look at all the facts before you jump to a conclusion like this.
The top 1% of America earns 20% of the national income, yet pays 40% of the taxes. Stop whining, the system is already taxing the rich the most.
EDIT: Ah I see you actually read what I was saying, looked at the numbers, and formed a coherent rebuttal against me. Good thing you didn’t just yell random stuff because you were proven wrong.
Given that we live in a first world country it stands to reason that we might pay a few more bucks in taxes…all that social and physical infrastructure costs plenty. But we’re really in a deep hole because of our bloated military. Overall we’ve borrowed more money for this bloated monster of a military that staggers, has a bolt in its neck and can hardly get out of its own way. This isn’t a chop against ‘the troops’, this is a chop against a military that’s designed to re-fight WW2. This is a chop against two back to back wars that we aren’t winning. Wars we can’t win no matter how many conventional forces we throw at a bunch of poorly dressed third world hicks that just happen to be fighting on their turf….I guess we must have ‘followed them home’. If the rich want to lower their taxes, let them get behind reducing a military force that’s six times bigger than the next half dozen militaries put together. And BS to folks that say we won’t ‘be safe’….as long as we have missile subs on patrol and aircraft carriers and a US based army tasked with defending the ‘homeland’ nobody is going to attack us on our turf. As long as we have covert capacity the ‘bad guys’ had better watch their backs. Nobody is going to fling any ICBMs either….do that and you die….Mutual Assured Destruction. What are the ‘rich’ and their stooges waiting for? You want ‘lower taxes’, go after the guys that are sucking up the bucks. My opinion…no kiddin’!
Because that’s what Rush tells them to think.

The rich often make more money off of investments (long term capital gains) vs income. 35% is the going rate for the rich.
